"The Most Glaring Unintended Consequence of the ‘Defund the Police’ Movement”
"The Daily Signal" recently posted an op-ed by Doug Scott, a member of CBB's Law Enforcement Advisory Council. Doug states, "The police shortage crisis that we are now facing is the most glaring unintended consequence of the 'defund the police movement' and it is jeopardizing public safety and placing added stress on a police workforce already stretched thin." Doug has nearly four decades of law enforcement experience, including 17 years a Chief of Police with three different departments in Virginia. His entire commentary can be viewed on the link below. More Than 100,000 “Declarations of Support” for Law Enforcement
To help bolster the morale of our law enforcement professionals CBB has asked citizens across America to sign a "Declaration of Support" for their local officers. It gives me great pleasure to report that, to date, more than 100,000 citizens have signed those declarations of support, which are being sent to chiefs and sheriffs nationwide. This voice of support for our officers is very much needed. According to a Police Executive Research Forum (PERF) survey, the number of sworn officers dropped nearly five percent between the end of 2019 and the beginning of 2022--that is a loss of some 40,000 officers across our country. Resignations increased by 47 percent during that period and retirements were up 19 percent.
Sign Your “Declaration of Support” for Police
We need to let our officers know how much they are valued and appreciated. You can sign a "Declaration of Support" online by going to the BehindBadge.org website and click on the “Sign Declaration of Support for Police” banner. Please share with others!
God bless law enforcement.
