Chris Collins, former president of the Las Vegas Police Protective Association, is now helping to guide one of the nation's leading support groups for law enforcement
McLean, VA (June 14, 2024) - Citizens Behind the Badge (CBB), a national nonprofit law enforcement advocacy organization, announced today that Chris Collins, a retired 32-year law enforcement veteran and former head of the Las Vegas Police Protective Association (LVPPA), has joined their Law Enforcement Advisory Council.
Mr. Collins served for 32 years with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, where he worked in patrol, SWAT, and the detective bureau. He also served as the long-time president of the LVPPA, which is the largest law enforcement association in Nevada. Mr. Collins also served as a member of Nevada’s Public Employee Retirement System’s Board where he oversaw the System’s $35 billion in funds.
Mr. Collins was one of law enforcement’s top lobbyists at the state and national level. In addition to his work in Nevada representing the interests of public employees in general, and law enforcement officers in particular, Mr. Collins also served on the Executive Board of the National Association of Police Organizations (NAPO). He held a number of elected leadership positions with NAPO, including vice president. NAPO represents more than 240,000 law enforcement professionals nationwide and supports law enforcement at the national level through legislative advocacy, political action and education.
“Over the past three decades I have worked closely with Chris in support of law enforcement and he is as effective and tireless as any police leader and advocate I know,” declared CBB founder and CEO Craig W. Floyd. “We are fortunate and proud to have his guidance and leadership as we work to ensure that our policing professionals get the support and respect they need and deserve to keep America safe.”
CBB’s Law Enforcement Advisory Council helps guide the organization’s policy positions, programs and activities. Mr. Collins joins 19 other members of the Council, which is comprised of federal, state and local law enforcement leaders from across the country. The Council is chaired by Bill Erfurth, a retired 26-year veteran of the Miami-Dade (FL) Police Department.
